Spotify is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs. We and our partners use cookies to personalize your experience, to show you ads based on your interests, and for measurement and analytics purposes. Spotify keeps pausing while you're listening, but why?! If you are transmitting with your mic in voice chat for 30 seconds while Spotify is playing, Spotify will stop playing, and you'll get.
Spotify lets you stream helluva soundtracks and hands down has one of the biggest music streaming playlists. But, it still misses out on a few Indie singles and artists. I also don’t find many regional songs of course due to legal issues. For these exceptions, Spotify provides you an option to stream local songs on the Spotify Desktop app. And in fact, you can even sync the playlist on to other devices in Spotify and enjoy the same songs on every device. So, here’s how to Sync Local Files From Spotify desktop to any device. However, this is a paid feature and you need to be a premium Spotify user.
Sync Local Files From Spotify Desktop To Any Device
1. Firstly, you will need to attach the Music Playlist local folder on Spotify. Little snitch sales. Here, I am going to attach my local folder on Spotify Windows. To do that, go to your Spotify Account Settings.
2. In the Account Settings, scroll down to Local Files Section. To stream local files, you need to turn the slider on. Once that is done, you will see two default folder options – Downloads and Music Library. If you have your song and playlists in those folders, you can move to Step 5. Else, we will need to attach our folder. To attach a different local folder, click on “Add a Source”.
3. After you have clicked on “Add a source” button, you will see a small File Explorer window pop up. Browse to the song folder on your local machine. Select it and click OK to add the folder.

4. Now once you have selected the folder, it should appear below the Local Files section. Make sure the slider is turned on else songs from that folder won’t be listed.
5. After you have attached the local folder, the songs will be available to stream on Spotify. To stream local songs, click on Local Files Library on the right-hand side. It should be present in the “Your Library” section.
6. Once you see your Local Files, we need to add them to a separate playlist. To do that, click on the 3 dots beside the songs. From the extended menu, move to “Add to Playlist”. An extended tray will display the existing playlist names, you can add to any of these. In case you have lots of local songs and want to stream them all, I would suggest creating a new Playlist. Here, I already have a playlist called Local Songs where I will be adding 3-4 local songs.
7. Once you have added all the desired songs to a playlist, now we can move to the other device. Like, suppose I want to stream the same songs on my Spotify mobile, I just have to download the playlist there. The only thing I have to take care of is that I am on the same Wi-Fi network as my laptop. Once you are connected on the same Wi-Fi network, go to the local songs playlist on the Spotify mobile app.

8. After you have found the playlist, tap on it to open the playlist. You will see all the local songs within it but they will all be greyed. You cannot listen to them as of now. So, we have to download the playlist in order to stream those local songs. To do that, tap the three buttons on the top right corner and tap on Download.
This is just a one time process and needs to be done every time you add a new local song. Now that you have downloaded the songs, you can move on to a different network and still, you will have the playlist available. The best thing about this process is that the songs don’t take up much space. To be precise, if your download preference is set to normal, each song would take approx 2.8 MB where High will take 4.7MB per track and very high might take 9.4MB per track.

A lot of Android users are complaining that Spotify doesn't work on their phone's lock screen. Ideally, when you are listening to songs on Spotify and lock your screen, you should be able to see a lock screen widget with a few details — album art, song title, singer, and buttons to control the playback.
During my research, I found that the problem is not specific to select phone models but can happen on any smartphone. That can be frustrating as most people like to listen to music when doing other stuff like working out, traveling and other activities. Unlocking the phone just to interact with the Spotify app seems tedious.
Let’s take a look at some potential solutions.
1. Try to Log out and Log Back In
Some of our readers suggest that logging out and then logging back in helped them resolve this issue. After that, they were able to see the Spotify widget on their smartphone’s lock screen. To sign out, tap on the Settings icon on the upper right and scroll to the bottom of the screen to find the Log out option.
Then you can sign in using your email ID or Facebook account. Use the same method you tried the first time so that you don’t end up creating a new account instead. Check if you can see the Spotify music widget on the lock screen now and if the controls are working.

Every app that you install on your Android smartphone comes with its own set of notification settings that dictates what happens when the phone is locked. Let’s take a look at Spotify notification settings.
Open Settings and then tap on Notifications & status bar. Check that the Show notification icons and Show on Lock screen options are toggled on. Otherwise, you won’t see notifications or shortcuts for any app on the lock screen. Tap on App notifications.

There are two more settings left in the above screenshot. First is Playback which will allow you to control your music on the lock screen. Tap to open it and make sure that Show notifications option is toggled on. Other settings in this screen are optional. Similarly, the Show notifications should be toggled on for Spotify Music too.
Now open Spotify and play a song. Lock your screen and check if you can see the Spotify playback widget there. Note: Samsung users have shared that setting the View Style to Detailed under Settings-Lock Screen-Notifications-View Style also helped them resolve the issue. If you have that option on your Android, then try it because I don’t. Manufacturers are known to alter stock Android with their spin for some reason!

Power Saving mode is a handy feature until it gets in the way of how an app functions. Power Saving mode keeps your apps in check and prevents them from consuming too many resources like CPU, GPS, and battery juice unnecessarily when they are not actively being used or when the phone is locked. They can often act like an overprotective parent leading to apps not working correctly.
To check, open Settings and tap on Battery & performance. Again, your smartphone may have slightly different settings (it may be called Battery Optimization instead) depending on your make and model. Tap on Choose apps to configure individual app settings.
Either search for Spotify or open it by scrolling. Tap on it to open. Tap on No restrictions to stop your smartphone from preventing Spotify to function correctly in the background when the phone is locked.
4. Clean Reinstall
Spotify stores all your songs and playlists on its servers, there is no harm in uninstalling the app. Windows 8 full version torrent. But we want to do a clean install. Finally, tap on Uninstall on the same screen to remove Spotify from your smartphone. Go back to the Play Store and install Spotify again. See if you can see Spotify music widget on the lock screen now.
